LEAKCELL – Flexible and Effective Leakage Detection with smart water meters in Water mains!
Ultrasonic meters are used in leak detection
Systemet använder Dynasonics TFX-5000 ultrasonic flow meter from the manufacturer Badger Meter, which can measure the flow to detect leaks without requiring mechanical interruptions in the distribution network. This is especially useful in older pipeline systems where cutting pipes to install flow meters causes additional potential leakage out in the field. The external, surface mounted “clamp-on” flow sensors allow monitoring and installation to be carried out easily on metal, plastic or ductile pipes and ensure that multiple leaks can be detected without the need to shut off the water flow to install a device. These features reduce installation time and save costs, while being able to deliver water and maintain a very high flexibility in leak detection.
LEAKCELL comes in two main versions; meters for fixed installations and portable meters for temporary flow measurements. If necessary, the fixed version can be equipped with a battery bank, charge controller and solar panels/wind generator, which enables long-term flow monitoring with minimal need for infrastructure. The portable version, such as LEAKCELL LCPD, provides temporary flow logging and can operate for up to 120 hours of life on a charge, making it ideal when you want to optimize temporary measurements over one or more days when searching for water loss caused by pipe breaks. The portable meter sends flow data via the cellular network to the BEACON web portal, where the data is logged and available via web browser or mobile app.
Find leaks in pipe networks
LEAKCELL is a versatile system designed for both fixed and portable water mains zoning, enabling municipalities and water utilities to monitor drinking water and locate leaks with precision. One of the main advantages of the meters is that it facilitates the zoning of water mains,
an important measure to delineate the entire area and leaks can be detected. LEAKCELL is modular offering both permanent and temporary ultrasonic flow measurement to reduce water loss through water leak detection.
Water meter designed for smart water, the leaks and water loss is made available online
By using LEAKCELL with data stored in the BEACON portal, you get a comprehensive flow history, where the leak is detected, which can be viewed in different time intervals, such as 15 minutes, hours, 24 hours, months or annual consumption. The collected data is processed so that users can easily access this data directly in the browser and mobile app without the need for complex software installation. In addition, LEAKCELL supports integration with operational control systems through a GSM router that connects via a fixed IP address. This enables the collection of real-time data and direct integration into existing systems. In addition, LEAKCELL can also send data via an El-Watch IoT device to El-Watch Neuron web, something that complements or even replaces complex monitoring systems of customers who want to use "smart water" to find the leaks. This allows operators to give priority to zones when detailed search is carried out using, for example, acoustic measurement or other smart water meters to achieve maximum savings.
Discover the flexibility of LEAKCELL that allows the system to be adapted to specific customer needs, including options for alarms, power supply, different methods of sending consumption to proactively save time and money. This new solution in smart water makes it a valuable tool for municipalities and water companies that want to improve their ability to locate leaks, whether they want to retrieve water consumption from the available web portals or transfer data with standardized API keys to their own SCADA or operational monitoring system of its water supply.

BEACON web is a cloud-based platform for flow monitoring that provides history of water consumption. By introducing user-friendly interfaces in browsers and mobile apps, users can easily follow flow data in different time intervals. The platform enables comparisons over time and export of data for effective monitoring.
Similarly, flow data can be easily read via the mobile app, where the user gets quick access to historical flow data, enabling smooth monitoring directly from the mobile.
