Alicat Scientific adds PROFINET industrial communications protocols to its flow and pressure control instruments

Alicat Scientific, Tucson, Arizona, announces that it has added PROFINET to its range of industrial protocols for Alicat mass flow controllers, pressure controllers, and pressure sensors. Through PLCs, industrial processes can be controlled and collect data in real time from Alicat devices with industrial protocols.

Part of the fast-growing industrial Ethernet-based spectrum of communication protocols, PROFINET is now perhaps the most widely used industrial protocol in the world. Automation engineers and integrators implementing PROFINET can now take advantage of Alicat instruments' multivariable measurement values and extremely fast response times and high resolution. With Alicat's efficient measurement capabilities, applications communicating through PROFINET can reduce the number of devices, which means less investment cost and fewer maintenance points. Liquid and gas processes with high precision and low pressure drop requirements will benefit from Alicat's "Whisper" instrument series of flow and pressure controllers and meters.

Alicat’s instruments with PROFINET have been certified conformant to the PROFI standard.

With the addition of PROFINET protocols, Alicat instruments are made available to most leading industrial communication standards. Overall, our communication options are compatible with nearly two-thirds of Europe's and the world's industrial networks. Around the world, labs and factories are making processes faster, smarter and safer by using Alicat industrial instrumentation. With the addition of PROFINET, we are helping many more customers benefit from our multivariable measurement and control devices.

Ferdi Faas, General Manager of Alicat Europe said;
Automation engineers, system integrators and factories using industrial protocols with Alicat flow and pressure devices are performing such varied activities as perfecting hydrogen-electric energy generation, spinning glass optical fibers for telecommunications, testing rocket parts for leaks, heating furnaces for ceramics, and generating pharmaceuticals through biochemical processing.
